Hearing Your Voices: Perspectives on Gene Therapy and Carriers of Choroideremia
Associate Professor Lauren Ayton, University of Melbourne and Centre for Eye Research Australia
A/Prof Ayton is the Co-Director of the VENTURE study, an inherited retinal disease registry in Melbourne, Australia, which is aiming to learn more about IRDs such as choroideremia. In this talk, she will update CRF members on some recent research into the patient experience. Firstly, she will speak about a study investigating the perspectives of people with IRD on gene therapy (and how CRF members can get involved!) She will also talk about ongoing work into the experiences of female carriers of choroideremia, and update on the progress of a CRF grant into exploring the genetics of these women.
